The Trade River horse trails consist of 40 miles of maintained and marked trails that wind through a variety of terrains and different forest types. They are located on the southern half of the Governor Knowles State Forest in northwest Polk and southwest Burnett counties.
- Land Manager is Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources
- A state trail pass is required for all people age 16 or older when horseback riding on trails
- All firewood brought into the Forest must be cut within Wisconsin and no farther away than 10 miles. No wood from Minnesota is allowed in the Forest.
- Current negative Coggins test is required to cross state lines.
