Wilderness Gateway Campground is located off Highway 12 along the Lochsa wild and scenic river at mile marker 122. Loop D is designated for livestock. This is a very remote location with no water or sewer hook up as well as no cell phone service. Each campsite has its own water tank, feeding bin, and a place to tie up stock. The campground is beautiful with a lot of shade. There are two main trails that are maintained by outfitters and the forest service. The two main trails connect to numerous trails along the way. The trails are steep and go for at least 3 to 4 miles before leveling out. I would rate these trails as very challenging especially if you or your animals are not in shape.
