Click the icon for directions in google.From Cle Elum, WA take State Highway 903 (Salmon La Sac Road) north and follow for about 16 miles. Then turn right onto Forest Road 128, off of Highway 903 and follow towards Salmon la Sac Campground, but do not enter campground, instead continue past the entrance on the gravel Road #4316, take spur RD #111 to trailhead.

Day riders and wilderness campers will both find Waptus Lake a wonderful destination point. The trail begins at the Salmon La Sac Trailhead, passes through the Alpine Lakes Wilderness, and ends at the end of Waptus Lake where it connects to the Pacific Crest Trail.

- Weed Free Feed is Required here.
- A Recreation Pass is required at the Salmon La Sac trailhead.
- Wilderness permits are required to enter the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. The self-issuing permits are free and available at trailheads.
