The Harlan County Reservoir is not only Nebraska’s second largest lake but is also home to the Peckerneck Trail developed especially for horse use. Beginning at Alma Vista 1 mile south of Alma, NE the trailhead is complete with hitching posts that will accommodate up to 20 horses. With a total of over 14 miles of trails arranged in numerous loops, you can ride loops of 1.5 hours, 4 hours, or 6 hours and still have time for lunch.
