Click the icon for directions in google.From I-26, take the Airport exit @ 5 miles west on Hwy 280 to the intersection of N. Mills River road. Go 5 miles. Here you will find a paved pull off for day parking. Camping is available @ Wash Creek Horse camp (reservations on Reservation.gov) by continuing a few more yards & turning up Rd 5001 (turns to gravel) and going @ 2 miles to the camp on the right. Trace ridge trail head is also available by turning left over the concrete road past the camp, at the end of the road, but it does get crowded on pretty weekends and can be hard to turn around.

North Mills River area provides miles of multi-use trails (hike/bike/horse) with lovely river crossings & higher mountain views. The trails are maintained by the volunteers with the Back Country Horsemen of Pisgah. BCH of Pisgah is a chapter of the Back Country Horsemen of America, a nationwide organization committed to protecting the access of equestrians to the public lands.
