Click the icon for directions in google.From Quad Cities, I-280 on the Illinois side, take Hwy 92 exit, follow Hwy 92 SSW. Hwy 92 will turn West at Andalusia Rd. Pass through town of Andalusia and continue West, Mississippi River will be on your right. Road will curve South away from the river, take the first right on Loud Thunder Road. Continue on Loud Thunder Road to the West side of the park. After you pass Lake George, look for Horse Campground Entrance on your left.

Loud Thunder is the largest of the Rock Island County forest preserves at 1,621 acres. One of the main attractions at Loud Thunder is Lake George, a 167-acres man-made lake with depths up to 55 feet and stocked with many varieties of fish. Other amenities are:
* Horse Corral Campgrounds – 10 primitive campsites with a horse corral, dump station, horse trailer parking, flush toilets, water access, and picnic area,
* Showers are available at RV Campground.
* Boat rentals and concessions
* Hiking trails- a two-mile moderate level and a 12-mile continuous loop moderate level
* Shared-use trails for mountain bikers, horseback riders, and hikers
* Picnic shelters and one playground
* A part of the Illinois Great River Road National Scenic Byway
