The Surveyors Ridge Trail is popular with mountain bike riders, so you’ll be sharing this trail with our wheel-mounted brethren.
There’s a lot more riding at Gibson Prairie than just the Surveyors Ridge Trail. Volunteers from Back Country Horsemen have used forest roads to create a network of horse trails that explore the forest and meadows east of Surveyors Ridge. These unofficial routes are mostly unsigned and in places a bit overgrown, but with a map, a compass or GPS, and a sense of adventure you’ll do fine.
If you’re looking for fun riding and great views, the Gibson Prairie area will not disappoint.

The only official Forest Service trail near Gibson Prairie Horse Camp is the Surveyors Ridge?Trail, and all by itself it’s a good reason for horseback riders to come here. You can ride along Surveyor’s Ridge in both directions from the horse camp, and the views are stupendous. Many thanks to Kim McCarrel for sharing this area!
