Gaviota offers easily accessed day riding opportunities through oak and chaparral. The most used trail leads out of the park to the summit of Gaviota Peak, the highest mountain in the vicinity. This isolated peak offers expansive views in all directions.
A second set of trails start at the Las Cruces school on the North side of Hwy 101, and both the Las Cruces Trail and Ortega Trail lead to beautiful views overlooking Hollister Ranch and the sea.
