6 miles west of Zimmerman, MN. West from Zimmerman on Cty 4 to the T at Cty 5. Go south (left) on CR 5 and turn left on 253rd Ave. It will become North Sand Dunes Forest Road and turn to gravel. Approx. ½ mile further, the horse camp is on the left side. No reservations, first-come first-serve.
Primitive camping. Large pull-through sites. Water is available but hand pumped so it is advisable to bring water. Vault toilets. Fire wood cannot be brought in. Wood is for sale on site. Soil is sandy so horses do not need to be shod. Minnesota trail pass is required. Trails are easy to moderate so all levels of riders will be comfortable.
