Big Meadows Horse Camp provides easy access to the southwestern side of the Mt. Jefferson Wilderness.  The beautiful North Santiam River runs through the area, which is dotted with small and mid-size lakes.  The trails are relatively easy and have only moderate elevation gain/loss.  Wildflowers are plentiful and varied, even late in the summer.   [From Riding Northwest Oregon Horse Trails, by Kim McCarrel].
