Appomattox-Buckingham State Forest has 12 miles of day use horse trails on the Carter-Taylor Trail, approx another 6 miles on the other side of the road from the trailhead. Nice trails but there are areas where there are alot of rocks.

- Day riding only. Open to hunters during hunting season. State Forest Use permit required. $16.00
- Coggins Test Certificates must be available for each horse on state lands.
