About

WE RIDE RAIN OR SHINE!!!!! The ride will be held in Pinon Hills, CA which is located in the High Desert area of Southern California at about 3800 feet above sea level. Temps in June can be very warm usually ranging from about 70 up to 105 or so, winds can be an issue but we usually only have a breeze in the late afternoon into evening. Rain is usually not much of a concern at this time of year, but Mother Nature is great at surprising us with what she may have in store for us.. The trail will be on fairly even ground ranging from soft sand to hard packed dirt, there are some rocks but most of the ride is decent. Our rescue horses are kept barefoot and do extremely well. All proceeds from this ride will go back to help the many rescue horses at Mustang-Spirit. Mustang-Spirit is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization; we run off donations and have NO paid staff. We have been around since 2002 and have assisted over 600 horses since our gates opened. If you or a friend is looking for a new trail buddy, please be sure to talk to one of the volunteers about some the available horses. MORE ABOUT THE RIDE... The ride will be approximately 8 miles long with 8 natural or simulated obstacles, but ride management reserves the right to alter the course or obstacles for safety or weather-related circumstances. If we have 30 or more riders signed up for the ride we will order Silver Buckles from Molly’s Silver as 1st place in our Open, Pleasure and Junior Divisions. If we have enough riders signed up early enough they will be at the ride, otherwise we may have to mail the buckles to the winners depending on how close to the ride we hit the 30 rider mark (the 30 riders MUST be signed up in the Open, Pleasure or Junior division. (Buddy and Scout riders do NOT count toward the minimum riders to qualify toward the buckles) Since this ride is being held the weekend before 4th of July it will have a Patriotic thyme and instead of "Best Dressed" & "Best Groom" we will be awarding "Most Patriotic Man, Woman & Mount" If you would like to come in early, we can accept horses Friday from noon till 6 pm and also Saturday from Noon till 6 pm. We only have limited stalls, so please call before you sign up if you require a stall. We have 7 stalls ranging in size from 12 x 12 up to a 60' round pen which can accommodate several horses. Just for fun on Saturday starting at about 11 am we will open our front pasture up for some mounted paint ball shooting (at targets, not each other) for those that would like to play a little before they compete Sunday. We also have miles of trails if you want to go exploring too....We will be serving Dinner Saturday night for those wanting to overnight. Please let us know if you're planning on coming out to play Saturday so we have an idea of how many we have coming.
