River Cities Therapy and Recreation Center, Inc. was founded in 1994 and for the past 20 years has provided equine assisted activities to children and adults with disabilities and challenges - the opportunity to improve their lives, build character, confidence and independence with equine activities. Come join us for an Arena Obstacle Challenge! Help support our programs!On a Farm or Ranch - during spring round-up There are many jobs to be done: Cook, wrangler, mechanic and maintenance. Folks who would stay at a Dude ranch would ride horses, explore the great outdoors, fish, hike and play - but also work! 2 AOCs in the same weekend!! All FUN Spring Round-up Themed! TSHIRTS: Sign up for both events before April Fool’s Day (4/1/2015) and get a FREE ACTHA RCTRC ride T-shirt. EARLY REGISTRATION or VOLUNTEERING is the only way to get a shirt they are NOT FOR SALE. RCTRC, INC. program shirts will be for sale for $20.00 AMAZING FOOD: Jeff Rowe and his family are planning an amazing Roasting event! PRIZES: In addition to ribbons for winners and judges pick awards, EVERYONE will get something at this ride regardless of if you place or not. Beautiful ribbons and prizes 1st - 6th place. You will enjoy 8 obstacles with plenty of room for riding and schooling before and afterwards. Prizes for the best dressed male/female rider and best groomed horse. There will be 1st and 2nd places for the overall series winner in each division: Open - 1st and 2nd place Pleasure - 1st and 2nd place Junior - 1st and 2nd place Scout - 1st and 2nd place In addition, there will be various other prizes that will be raffled off. Tickets for the raffle will be earned by the riders based on participation and placing over the series. All tickets will be handed out at the final AOC on May 17, 2015, so that participants will not need to worry about keeping track of their tickets. Prizes TBD In addition - after the AOC ride on May 16, 2015 - we will be having a PLOP-DROP! Where you can purchase tickets for spots in the arena and where ever our oldest RCTRC horse poops - we split the POT with the winner. Folks don’t have to be present to ride - and tickets can be purchased for $10.00/ticket or 3 or $25.00 on our website via PAYPAL prior to this weekend. THE AOCs: Arena Obstacle Challenges Our arena and the event will take place on our farm. You will be on a grass arena - but there are short trails that you may want to traverse. Horses used to trail riding barefoot should be fine but shoes or boots are recommended. Saddle bags, helmets, and breast collars are recommended but not required. Properly fitted helmets ARE REQUIRED for ALL riders under 18. THIS IS GOING TO BE AN AMAZINGLY FUN WEEKEND!! All uneaten hay and manure must be thrown into the Maneur Spreader before you leave. Trash goes in trash cans. CAMPING: We will be offering primitive horse trailer/tent camping area. All horses must be overnighted in the this primitive trailer camping area either tied to the trailer or in your portable panel, solar, or generator powered corrals. We are asking for a donation of $20.00 regardless of if you are sleeping in the trailer or not. There is a bathroom located at our barn. Please help us to clean up our pasture field before leaving. The entire area is surrounded by an electric fence so if a horse were to get out of its pen or away from the trailer - it will be contained to the area. CAMPING; Primitive Camping horse trailer,truck bed,or tent. - $20.00 Hook-ups Available: NONE Stalls Available: None THE FACILITY: This is the home of River Cities Therapy and Recreation Center, Inc. This is also our private home and we are excited to open it to ACTRA horse folk to enjoy it as we do! We do have short rides available on our farm.
