About
This is the first ride in an AOC series of three weekends, with four total events. We will give ribbons at each event, 1st thru 6th place for EACH division. You will enjoy 8 obstacles with plenty of room for schooling and riding before and afterwards. There is also a stocked fishing pond at the ranch, and you can fish for a fee of $5, no license required! The series champion in each division will receive a beautiful belt buckle from Molly's, and reserve champion in each division will also get a great prize, which is yet be be determined. In addition, this will be a "Prize Party", giving everyone a chance to win some great items raffle style! VERY IMPORTANT Please note: in the event that either of the first two rides do not have a minimum of 25 riders, the series will still offer a high point and reserve, however, it will not be a belt buckle. We will still conclude the May two day event with a raffle and the tickets will be distributed as described below. Spring Series "Prize Party" Awards: There will be 1st and 2nd places for the overall series winner in each division: Open, Pleasure, Junior and Scout. In addition, there will be various other prizes that will be raffled off. Tickets for the raffle will be earned by the riders based on participation and placing over the series. All tickets will be handed out at the final AOC on May 17, 2015, so that participants will not need to worry about keeping track of their tickets. Prizes TBD. Please don't forget, there is a $5 grounds fee and a $5 California Drug Fee, for a total of $10 in additional fees. I would also like to take the opportunity to address a few concerns that have been expressed by riders so you know that those concerns are not being ignored: PARKING: There have been concerns about the parking at Oak Meadows. Many have asked about alternate parking. Those of you that have been there have seen the layout of the ranch and as I am sure you have seen, there is no other parking area available at this time. I am sorry, but the lay land is not something that can be easily changed in terms of both labor and great expense. Oak Meadows is a fairly new facility and they are striving to make improvements to the ranch on a daily basis. WATER: There are water troughs for your horses to drink. I realize the hose is far for those who prefer to not have their horse drink from the community source (I know because I am one of them), but again, that is all there is available at this time. And again, Oak Meadows is a fairly new facility and they are striving to make improvements on a daily basis that will make the ranch as user friendly as possible. MISTAKES: The judges and other volunteers are giving up their time to help put on these AOCs. They graciously donate their time and for that, as a ride host, I am grateful. When there is a new judge that volunteers to do a ride for the first time, I have done (and will do) my best to make sure they know the ropes. However, mistakes can be (and are) made as new judges work to gain experience. Please understand that while every effort is made to avoid mistakes, they can still happen. And I, as a ride host, will always address any and all issues and rectify any mistakes. If a mistake results in a person not receiving a ribbon or award that they should have earned, I will make sure that the rider receives what they earned. SCORE TABULATION: Sorry, but this does take time, and unlike a CTC, the scores for each obstacle cannot be entered and/or tabulated as each obstacle is completed and/or as riders finish riding in from the trail. Scores cannot begin to be tabulated until all riders have completed the course. With the above in mind, I hope you, the riders, will continue to come out and support the good work that is going on at Oak Meadows Ranch by riding at our future AOCs (and CTCs) as well. Thank you
