Each participant will rotate through four different obstacle stations with four different judges and receive feedback 16 times. Participants will self-evaluate as well as be evaluated by the other participants and the judge. Clinic is $40.00 per participant and $20.00 for auditors for the 2 hours. Enroll now, clinic is limited to only 12 participants for each session in March and April. To enroll or to receive additional printed information email: glwild@hotmail.com. These 19,840 acres of desert and mountains became the first regional park in the Maricopa County Park System in 1954. Located near the meeting of the Gila and Agua Fria Rivers in the southwest Valley, the park includes a large wetland, or riparian, area. The majority of the park remains pristine desert, very similar in appearance to the landscape seen by the first settlers and explorers. The Sierra Estrella range, or Star Mountains, were once within the Mexican border, and remained so until the Gadsden Purchase in 1853. The word "estrella" means star in Spanish and indeed the highest peaks in this range reach for the stars above the low surrounding desert. The name could also refer to the abundant, sparkling flakes of mica present in the Precambrian schist. The eastern half of the range is part of the Gila River Indian Community and access there is restricted. The northwest quarter of the range lies within Estrella Mountain Regional Park and is now bordered by housing developments incorporated into the city of Goodyear. We have added the Pleasure/Open Pairs Prize (POP)to our ride. An open rider will be randomly paired with pleasure rider and their scores will be added and the highest scoring "pair" will win cash. The open rider does not have to ride with the "their" pleasure rider. But we encourage camaraderie and helping each other along the way. $5.00 to participate. Rumor control says there may be animals hidden along the trail. Spot them - you may win a prize! Trails rated light to moderate - shoes or boots recommended. Only horses competing in ACTHA ride permitted on site. NO ARRIVALS BEFORE NOON ON FRIDAY, PLEASE.
