Aah Light

The Aah Light

I was a skeptic. Not anymore.

I first encountered the Aah Light in the spring of 2017 while teaching at the Mane Event in Scottsdale, AZ.  I carried the Aah Light with me until August 2017 without using them. Then I had an “eventful” ride. The result of which was a broken shoulder, extensive surgery, and an excellent test case for the Aah Light! While, admittedly, a test case of one doesn’t make for good statistics it has proven itself to me as a viable tool that I will be carrying in the future.

What is it?

The Aah Light is a specialized hand-held LED light with three (100mw, 250mw, and 500mw) power settings, emitting a 660nm red light that helps provide healing.

Is it Magic?

No. Through emitting red, low-light wavelengths through the skin, red light therapy helps naturally jump-start the process of tissue recovery and other forms of rejuvenation through increased blood flow, collagen stimulation and more. The process cannot be felt and isn’t painful because it doesn’t produce any heat as the low-power red light wavelengths are emitted directly through the skin where they can have positive effects on cellular energy and multiple nervous system and metabolic processes.

How does it Work?

Photobiomodulation. That’s a mouthful! Photonic light therapy has been around for nearly 5 decades but I had never heard of it until Sharon at Aah Light sent a kit home with me.

Through emitting red, low-light wavelengths through the skin, red light therapy helps naturally jump-start the process of tissue recovery and other forms of rejuvenation through increased blood flow, collagen stimulation and more.

660nm wavelength red and near-infrared light is used in medical settings for burn treatment, wound healing, joint and muscle pain, and sports injuries.

Studies have shown that concentrated red light is absorbed by cell mitochondria and converted into ATP (ATP – or Adenosine Triphosphate – is the primary energy carrier in all living organisms) and stimulate the production of collagen – the building blocks of your skin structure.

How I used the Aah Light

With a fresh from surgery shoulder chock full of plates, pins, and screws I had large incisions, swelling, bruising, and pain. In short, a great testing platform for the Aah Light.

  • Short term – After using the Aah Light post-surgery my numbness, bruising and pain near the surgery site were improved.
  • 1 Month post-surgery – Incision sites are healing well. Swelling and bruising are gone.
  • 2 Months post-surgery – Passive and active range of motion is increasing.

At this point, the shoulder is working much better without numbness or tingling, and while I’m a long way from 100% my physicians are saying that I’m ahead of the curve in relation to the range of motion and overall healing at this stage of the process. I’m not a physician and I can’t say with certainty that’s it’s due to the Aah Light (I’d much rather say that I’m naturally a fast healer!), but I do think that the Aah Light is helping.
