Chrysler Jeep
Liberty - Diesel
 My old
trail head destination vehicle. Purchased new in
2004 despite the warnings of friends who had had
Jeeps or
Chryslers in the past. I gambled that
the new Mercedes ownership would make a Jeep
more reliable. I lost this particular gamble.
When it ran the Liberty was great; I loved the
turning radius and for a small SUV it had pretty
good mileage at about 27 MPG. Unfortunately,
problems were all too frequent. More than once I
was stranded with a vehicle that wouldn’t start.
Problems I encountered were – Turbo charger blew
while on the freeway. Transmission failed twice
and had to be rebuilt. During most of the months
that I had it I visited the dealer to have one
or more indicator lights reset. All in all, my
diesel Jeep Liberty was not a vehicle that
inspired confidence.
